Our menu is focused on home cooked food using the very best local ingredients. The menu reflects on produce which is fresh and in season.

We do our best to promote small independent and high quality producers, and this applies to the buying olive oil, nuts, wine, beer, wild boar, fish, lamb or langostines. We also lie to ensure that we have at least one dish which is slow cooked such as “Artigas Pie”, which involves 24 hours of preparation and 4 hours of cooking.

Our cooks have experience of working in and leading in some of Uruguay´s top restaurant.

Tea time

Afternoon Tea is a tradition left on the River Plate by British interests, long since gone. We use the best ingredients to create an extra special afternoon tea.

Wine

In keeping with our “Buy Local” policy, we only stock Uruguayan wines. We deal directly with the wineries and without intermediaries. We have a full range of wines, and can be considered a useful stop on a wine tour of Uruguay.Narbona, Bodega Garzon, El Legado, Campo Tinto and Viñedo de los Vientos are some of the leading wine makers we work with.

If you drink too much wine, it´s not really a problem as you can sleep over in one of the rooms!

Events

Alquimista Montevideo is an ideal location to hold a wide range of small and mid sized events for up to 120 people, depending on the time of year. We are also open for private dining requests at night.
